What Happens When the Eagle Stops Stirring the Nest? Parents Stop Babying Your Babies!!!

Writer: Dad CypherDad Cypher

And the Mother Eagle struggled to reach her nest. Her wings are ragged, and her talons are slightly cracked. Lord only knows how she climbed the limb to drop mouse entrails into those overgrown beaks. And like that, the tender morsels disappear. The shrieks rise again. She must hunt. The eaglet’s hunger is never satisfied. The mother eagle knows she does not have long before they feed on each other. One eaglet has already punctured his sibling’s eye.

This eagle’s tale goes against Mother Nature. Sadly, it does not go against the natures of today’s parents.

What happens when the Eagle Stops Stirring the Nest?

Many students lose grit. Today’s parents satiate their digital babies with the latest kicks, air pods, and iPhones. Their beaks open like a coin laundromat. They are consumers. Omnivores of the trends. It’s a miracle the little eaglets can put one foot in front of the other. Mommy and Daddy carry them everywhere they go.

They cannot flap their wings, nor can they take any criticism. Any direction given by the educator represents a predatory threat. Thus, mama and Daddy Bear race to the rescue, ripping apart the bus driver, lunchroom lady, teacher, and principal.

“They got the wrong one; they mess, they gon’ to find out. Who else wanna mess around with Hollywood Court.”

Gone are the days of OutKast: “Git Up, Get Out.”

Parenting has become a lifetime appointment like the Supreme Court. Mommy and Daddy refuse to stir the nest or hold their children accountable. They cripple them and lie to themselves. They think they are safety nets. But they refuse to dangle their children over the branch.

But, one day, when they send their babies to college, their little sheep will discover a wolf in a designer cardigan.

Professors like me. The Anansi of education cannot wait to devour them. We do not get caught up in their tears, tantrums, or web of excuses. We are the spiders. Rate my professor all you want, but you still must turn in that assignment on time.

They will be traumatized.

It is not the fault of digital babies; it is their responsibility to heal and grow fast. This cold world will not be passing out sweaters anytime soon.

So, parents, while your babies are still in high school, work with their teachers. You must allow your kids to struggle, deal with boredom, and sometimes fail. This parenting is not cruel. You are teaching your kids to flap their wings.

As a Hip-hop Therapeutic writing expert, I am providing a list of songs to prepare your eaglet to fly.
